The Angelina River offers great hunting above its’ convergence with the Neches River. This area, locally known as “The Forks” has thousands of acres of winding sloughs and large grassy flats that hold an abundance of waterfowl. In addition to the large flats, high water conditions can provide flooded timber hunts that rival those of eastern Arkansas.
We hunt flooded willows, timber and shallow pockets with scattered buck brush for Mallards, Widgeon, Gadwall, Wood Ducks, Pintail and Teal. Late season also brings Bluebill, Ringneck and Canvasback hunting on the main lake. Hunts are from daylight until 10:00 a.m. or until legal limits are reached.
On our duck hunts, we will go where the birds are. We will not depend on a fixed blind for our hunting success. If no brush is available where the ducks want to be, we will hunt from the boat in a pop-up style boat blind.
You will need a shotgun, camo clothing, waders, all licenses and shells.
I recommend #2 or #3 Non-Toxic shells for ducks, and #4 Non-Toxic shells for Teal.

I can accommodate up to 3 hunters. Arrangements can be made with other professional guides for larger groups.
In addition to duck hunts, I now offer a package that includes morning duck hunting and an afternoon hunt for quail. These quail hunts are for birds released the morning of the hunt in addition to birds released previously, so you are assured of a quality hunt.
Transportation will be provided to and from the area we will be hunting, which is approximately 45 minutes from Lake Sam Rayburn. Trained pointers are also provided. This is a great way to enjoy plentiful wing shooting and watch well-trained dogs work.
These combo hunts are offered on a limited basis, and include overnight lodging and lunch at Powell Park Marina for 2 hunters. Please call to book combo trips early to insure availability.
You will need a shotgun and shells for the quail hunts. I recommend #6 or #7 lead in low brass.
